Hey, I'm back! I came down with a horrible bought of flu/bronchitis, and was down for the count! I want to thank everyone for their "get well" wishes!
So I left off at the last blog telling you all about the dip-stick who put his feet on the supplement/food counter to stretch out, and how I called the Florida Dept. Of Agriculture/Commerce..I had a follow up call from them saying they were sending some people to look into the matter. I don't know if they did, however I did notice "Purell" dispensers at the spray down stations, and a better cleaning solution in new spray bottles- it may not sound like much, but at "The Firm" this is a big improvement...now if they can have a towel policy, that's be even better.
Seeing how the media has decided not to report on these issues, I WILL! I don't understand why no local affiliates of NBC, CBS, ABC, or the newspapers will not look into these dirty "holes" that go unchecked! Especially with all the health issues you are hearing about on the news! ( I wonder what that red-headed trainer at Bally's Total Fitness thinks now, as she told me in front of numerous people "There's no such thing as MRSA!"-guess what? Another ACSM graduate! I mentioned that one time before) I have also from this point on decided to fully call out unhygienic fitness facilities and those people who act like trainers/fitness instructors, but show no professional integrity. I should call out Jillian Micheals from "America Biggest Loser"- I cant believe the way she yells, (don't worry-I didn't forget when the male trainer acted the same way last season, I just forgot his name, but wasn't blogging at the time, and yes, I think he's just as unprofessional as his TV co-hort) and last week-cursing at the client! I would love to see which training module she did where that's acceptable! Shame on you Jillian Micheals-YOU SUCK! If you think it motivates people, you're wrong. I am also doing to call the American College Of Sports Medicine to see if these people are even certified..
1st Place goes to Dave Levison! It says "Certified Personal Trainer- ACSM"..so why don't you act like it at least, and teach yourself and your clients some gym hygiene, and learn to use a towel, or if you use a paper towel, use it with spray, dude! I mean c'mon, if I gotta ask you again, I'm gonna ask for some commission as well! It's like I'm saying-I go to the gym to achieve a goal, in a certain amount of time, not to play nurse maid to you and your clients! I also think you should tell your clients NOT to put their towel on the floor, and then wipe their face with it, please? Thanks!
2nd Place goes to Allison Purnell! It says, "Certified Personal Trainer-ACSM" I thought you were getting better, but appearances can be deceiving! It would be nice if you'd take the time as well to teach your clients some gym hygiene, that'd be great!
Remember-Stand Up For Your Rights As A Customer! It does not take much to have a clean gym!
Here's an interesting tid-bit! I mentioned how I got the boot from "GOLD'S GYM" for standing up for my rights when an employee got off a machine I needed and left it dripping with sweat, and when I asked the manager about it, got kicked out. I love it when you go up to desk in BALLY'S, LA FITNESS, or GOLD'S, and ask them to enforce their own rules, you get the classic "What can we do? We have 7000 members?" I always look around and say "Their aren't 7000 people hear now!" Man it pisses them off when you're right! anyway, my neighbors joined before I could warn them, but apparently, GOLD'S now has a "You must have a towel to get in" policy..So I asked my buddies to let me know if anyone actually uses it, or like most-just put it on the floor, or never wipe off the equipment with it..
A final note-just cause it makes me laugh, but it's actually sad...Why cant people put the weight plates or dumbbells back in the right spot? It might not be you, but you see them, they put the 45 lb. on the 5 or 10 lb. post, or the 20 lb dumbbell's back in the 80 lb. spot...did you ever have to play "Concentration" in Kindergarten? If you're that tired, to replace the weight back in it's spot, go home and rest...
Advertisement of the week: If you are looking for a great work out towel, goto: www.fittowel.com Find out for yourself about this new towel, and how it can help your workout and more!
Tip of the week: Keep your towel and bottle off the floor! Bacteria is spread all over from the soles of your shoes, and unless you have a maintenance team swabbing the deck every second, it's not clean..
