The Fallen Designer

The entire fashion industry was not surprised when The House of Dior sacked the renowned fashion designer, John Galliano, after working as their head designer for 15 years.

Galliano, who made his name known under his own label and after he started designing for Givenchy in 1995, is known for his flamboyancy and eccentricity. Famous supermodels and actresses like Heidi Klum, Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz, and Sarah Jessica Parker have graced the red carpet wearing his creations, which always earns them a spot on the Best Dressed List.

Unfortunately, last February 25, 2011, a few days before the launch of Paris Fashion Week, John Galliano was arrested for Anti-Semitic Tirade. Here is a video of a very intoxicated John hurling anti-Jewish insults at a couple in a Parisian café.

Poor John. It truly is disheartening to see an icon such as him fall down. Surely, everyone will agree when I say that John Galliano is a true artist. He has a knack of creating simple yet stunningly elegant pieces that are not only for those on the upper echelons, but for the entire female market; something that every great designer must always do.

The only question that leaves us all wondering is: Who will be Dior’s new head designer? John has definitely set the bar high, and to find someone as talented as him is truly a difficult challenge for the House of Dior.

As to knowing the reason behind is madness, no one really knows. My only hope is for John to stay strong because there are still people like us who believe in him and his talent. (Take that Natalie Portman! Ha!) Issues like that is not enough reason to destroy someone as great and as talented as John Galliano.

Here are a few of John's work:

Don't forget to smile! :)
