I shed a tear for this photo.
I can just imagine the happiness this man have felt. It’s like everything has finally paid off; something that no amount of apologies can ever repay.

After 25 years of struggle, An estimated 7,500 victims of the Marcos regime were given $1,000 (Php45,000) as compensation for the suffering and torture that have been inflicted on them.

While some of you may disagree and say that $1,000 is not enough, it’s still something. It may not take away all the horrible memories, it may not bring back all the lives that have been lost, but it definitely is a start. Bear in mind that victims of the Marcos regime have lost everything, and this $1,000 may not get rid of the pain, but it would mean a lot to them.

As to the dictatorship issue, former Sen. Rene Saguisag have this to say, "Money is important, but more important is to send the message to would-be dictators, to would-be human rights violators, that they cannot hide anywhere. There is no haven for gross human rights violators." Take that, Gaddafi.

Don't forget to smile! :)
