As you guys can see, those pictures are those of rape, abortion, child abuse, famine, and maltreatment of the elderly. I decided to post something about this because of the events that have happened to me yesterday.
Yes, all of those in just one day. Great, isn’t it?
So I was on my way to school when I saw this old lady weeping and shouting her mom’s name. She was gazing up at the sky and was like begging her mother to take her. Behind her was her son, who was also crying and saying “Ma, sorry… hindi ko sinasadya ma…” I don’t know what really happened between the two of them, but it’s obvious that it was something serious.
I have a soft heart for babies and the elderly. It hurts me a lot seeing them being treated that way. I mean, being battered and all. Have their children forgotten what they did for them? If not for them, they wouldn’t be here in this world. Their parents sent them to school, took care of them and supported them until they can provide on their own. And what do they get in return? Harsh words, being thrown in homes or shelters for the elderly and not getting any visits until they die, some would just even leave them anywhere. What a great way to repay them!
My Mom and I would have some petty fights every now and then, but I can’t imagine myself doing that to her. I mean, she’s the only parent that I have. Why on earth will I do that to her? She has sacrificed a great deal for us and I promised myself that I’m going to repay all those once I get out of school.
Think people! Do you want your future kids or grandchildren do those things to you? I think not.
After being shocked by that “drama”, I rode a jeep and saw all those beggars, both kids and old ones, along Taft. Most of them are living under the LRT and some were just… well, they just have their cartons and when nighttime comes, they’ll just look for a suitable place to sleep. There were times when I get scared of them, especially those that look like they have some psychological problems, but most of the time, my heart cries for them. I can’t find any reason why they have to live that way. Most of them are still young and strong enough to have a descent job, but are too lazy to look for one. All they did was to sit, drink with their friends from morning till night, smoke their lungs out, and if lucky, be able to eat 3 meals in a day.
I even remembered that day when my mom fetched me from school. We passed along Taft Avenue and saw this guy. She told me that they used to be classmates in high school and she could not believe that he’s a “takatak” boy -- you know, those guys selling cigars and candies on those boxes… yeah, that’s what you call ‘em. She said that he was smart, and was always on top of their class. That’s why it surprised her to see him that way. Hmmm... is life really unfair? I think it’s not. We’re just too lazy to work.
Enough about that.
So when I entered CSB, I saw this ‘billboards’ about rape, abuse, and abortion. I actually stared at it for quite a long time. I was pondering about the kind of life these victims have or if they ever thought of committing suicide just to escape the shame and pain of what had happened to them. If I was in their position, I wouldn’t have survived it. I’d rather kill myself rather than live with the memory that I know will forever haunt me.
Rape. Why do they have to do this?? You guys can go to any strip clubs anytime. There are girls who are willing to that ‘thing’ just as long as you pay them. Why do you have to do ‘that’ to innocent girls? Can’t you keep that ‘thing’ inside your pants until you get home? Are your wives not good enough for you? Sheeesh! What if that happened to your child? Are you going to be happy? Will you be proud and say “Hey, my daughter had been raped. Just like what I did to that silly little girl the other night.” You should be ashamed of yourself.
Child abuse. Slavery. “Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Ating Bayan” you can hear that saying almost everyday. Especially during campaigns. But if they’re really focusing on that issue, then why is child slavery so rampant not only here in our country but in other parts of the world, too?
Abortion. I pray to God that this will never be legal. Aren’t you guys scared of this? You’re killing someone. And the worse part of it is that, it’s a part of you. You own that baby and now you want to kill it? You know very well the consequence of doing "it". If you don't want to get pregnant, then why did you have to do it?
For those of you who haven't experienced any of these, you guys are fortunate. You should be thankful for that. Not all people are as lucky as we are. The best thing to do is to pray for the victims of these injustices. May God free them from their sufferings and help them find real happiness.
I guess that's it. I'm starting to get too serious here. Bye.
-XOXO-
