The Glam of the 40's and Rebellious Edge of the 70's Combined to Create a Siren Call
Posted by st at 8:00 PM
Elle Magazine this month, July 2009, has a spread called "Siren Call". "Falls heroic classicism takes its cues from the '40s screen gems and rebellious '70s glamazons (Hello, Jerry Hall!) with boldly cut dresses, louche jumpsuits, and thigh-high, to die-for boots."
It is photographed by Alexei Hay and styled by Joe Zee. I am an instant fan of both.
Lucien Pellat-Finet, NYC embroidered T-shirt and cashmere pants, a Van Cleef & Arpels gold and diamond link necklace, enamel and gold bracelet by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co., a yellow gold ring by Bulgari at $2,200, a Jewel-studded clutch by D&G for $1,995 and finally the suede boots by Cesare Paciotti for $1,100. Oh, the boots!
Fendi calf leather corset, $900, Fendi leather trimmed jersey blouse $1,260, Fendi embroidered wool skirt $2,160, diamond earrings by Charriol $1,195, Suede gloves by Carolina Amato at $250, Rhinestone bracelet by Thierry Mugler Edition $1,800, Austrian crystal mina'udere by Judith Leiber $2,995 and suede boots by Cesare Paciotti $1,100.
I love the way the stylist mixed vintage accessories with new modern high-end apparel. I salute the combination of the 40's Glam and 70's Rebellious Nature. Pure Genius.
Of course, this is from a gal that wears vintage fur and boots any day it gets under 65 degrees in the OC during fall/winter. I am in a bit of sticker shock from the previous layouts. If you are too, take a look at my website where you can buy lots of glam for a whole lot less. I think everyone deserves to look FABULOUS, even on a tight budget. What do you think?Labels: Fashion
