Despite my love for fashion I have never shown interest in men’s fashion. Ever. For some unfathomable reasons, I always feel that it’s a tad too limited and can sometimes either be too boring or too over the top. Limited in the sense that women can freely wear men’s clothes, but boys, on the other hand, cannot wear dresses or skirts. Except, of course, those kilts worn by men in Scotland. Other than that, no sane man would dare wear a skirt or a dress. Even “fashion forward” gay men don’t wear dresses at all.

So in order for me to have a better understanding of the complexity that is men’s fashion, I decided to challenge myself to create five (5) different looks for men. And I have to say, it took me two (2) days to finish “styling” these outfits.

Without further ado, I present to you Aen’s 5 looks for men for all occasions:

LOOK 1:
I have always admired how boys from Ivy League Schools dress themselves up (i.e. preppy). They’re not exactly swoon-worthy (save for a few), but I like how they always look so crisp, clean, and very smart-looking.

I avoided the usual manly colors like blue, red, and black, and instead opted for a more summer-inspired color-blocking look. I’d rather the shorts be a lighter shade of blue, and the shoes a lighter shade of green, but couldn’t find a decent photo.

1. Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Collection Pique Polo (in orange) $78
2. Michael Kors Madra Plaid Shorts $125
3. Yellow Leather Belt £9.61
4. Oliver Peoples Bartley Sunglasses $350
5. Cole Haan Air Newport Slip-Ons $128

LOOK 2:
Small town boys whose dream is to be a famous singer decided try his luck. He went to the city with only his clothes, his guitar, and his dreams of making it big someday.

1. D&G Elvis Presley Tee $165
2. The Shirt by Joe's Relaxed Miliatry Shirt $98
3. Mesh Hat $19.25
4. Tod's Metal & Leather Shield Sunglasses $495
5. Gibson J-45 True Vintage Acoustic Guitar
6. Rock & Republic Fearless Straight-Leg Jeans $218
7. Converse Jack Purcell Racearound Oxfords $55
8. Polo Ralph Lauren Washed Leather Belt $75

LOOK 3:
I wonder how those men in gray and black corporate and probably personalized tailored suits dress up when they’re out on a vacation. Say, a tropical island perhaps? Probably not as far from what they’re used to wearing, but definitely a tad more comfortable and casual.

1. Versace Collection Polka-Dot Dress Shirt $225
2. Calvin Klein Collection Modern Sport Jacket $775
3. Prada Two-Band Sandals $395
4. Salvatore Ferragamo Reversible Leather Belt/Square Buckle $290
5. Theory Beckitt Collective Shorts $145

LOOK 4:
Inspired by a few guy friends whose wardrobe is a wide collection of black and white striped shirts. It does make them look clean and chic (sometimes), but it can also be very unexciting. I’m quite a certain a little touch of red will perk their outfits up and probably attract the attention of the opposite sex.

1. Yellow Leather Belt £9.61
2. Dolce & Gabbana Aviator Sunglasses $315
3. Gucci Driver $390
4. Vince Striped Pique Polo $88
5. Hugo Five-Pocket Jeans $155

LOOK 5:
Although it’s summer here in the Flips, plus the fact that it doesn’t snow here ever, I came out with this outfit inspired by those New York boys who only have a black wardrobe.

1. Dolce and Gabanna Nylon Hoodie $1,195
2. Armani Collezioni Shawl-Collar Sweater $355
3. Ralph Lauren Black Label Bond Stretch Poplin Shirt $295
4. Gucci Wool Scarf $290
5. Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Collection Nappa Leather Gloves $128
6. Jack Spade Wayne Leather Duffle $395
7. 7 For All Mankind Nate Nightcat Slim Bootcut Jeans $189
8. Gucci Boots $690
9. Giorgio Armani Polarized Aviator Sunglasses $260

And there you have it, my five looks for five occasions. Spare me the rude comments, I’m still learning.

Au revoir!

Don't forget to smile! :)
-XOXO-
