The power of Prayer

Often times we ask God if He would lead us in the right direction. Whether it be what church to join, what job to take, or what we should do with our lives. As great as it is that we inquire of the Lord for direction, if we ask general or vague questions, we often times get general or vague answers. It doesn't mean that God won't answer, it just means we might miss the answer. I've heard more than once on my mission of people that have been asking for direction and shortly thereafter met the missionaries. It might seem to some that they got their answer, yet to those who asked God the question missed it.
Let's say we were looking at a map. A confusing map that has alot of roads and alot of things we don't understand on it. We're looking for where God lives on it. The problem is we don't know his address or any landmarks. We call up The Lord and we ask Him what direction to go. He gives us the answer:"North." Maybe not the answer we were looking for, but regardless, we follow His guidance. We head north still not knowing exactly where we are headed. We take a few turns that might not have been the best, or if we're lucky we take some good turns that bring us closer to His house, but we still can't find it. So again we ask what direction to go. Again he points us in the right direction. This pattern continues until we realize that we need to ask specific questions to get specific answers. After realizing this, we ask the Lord very specific questions such as "Do you live on this street?"
When we learn to ask specific questions we can learn to get specific answers. A specific question we should ask God would be "Is the Book of Mormon true?" After studying it like we would the map. Once we ask this God can tell us it is, but until we do there is a good chance He'll just give us the right direction. Let's ask Him specific questions so that we can not only head in the right direction, but travel their the best way possible. God wants to get us back to Him. Please don't make Him wait any longer than he has to by taking detours. Go directly to Him and ask Him specifically if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the way to go. He will tell you as He has told me that it is. I promis you that in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
