There is a part of me that is related to the British lifestyle. I am fond of snacking on coffee and biscuits, I fall for even the corniest of jokes, and I always seem indifferent to most people. I think the only people who can make me dither are my family and my boyfriend. It's not because they're the closest people to me, but because most of their annotations make me extremely rational. Whenever I'm with them, I'm just… ME: bubbly, lucid, and rowdy -- but in a good way; but other than that, I'm usually withdrawn and… indifferent.
I have observed that I have been insightful and unruffled these past few days. I thought it was just because of the beach trip we just had, but I later on realized that it's simply because of the climate. I love the rain! I love drinking hot chocolate, looking at the window while reading a good book, drawing, coloring, or simply pondering about life.
Aside from afternoon tea parties, I am also in love with picturesque places and going to art exhibits. It just makes me unreservedly happy.
Plus, British people are more inclined on the sophisticated part of life. It's all about the glamour and refinement of every little thing. It's not about elite class of the society, or the Barbie look-alikes we see everyday on TV, but timeless beauty and quaint parties. British people are so flexible when it comes to fashion and style. They set the standards and they live up to their title. They add the word 'modish' to 'simplicity'. British lifestyle is just everything fashion is about: effortless and chic.
In my country, people often get misjudged by the society whenever they do something radical or out of the ordinary. British people are more independent and open-minded. If someone decides to move a toe out of the line, no one would seem to be bothered enough, and we would usually find him or her witty.
Don't get me wrong, I do love the Filipino mentality; it's culture loving and very hospitable citizens. But I've noticed that we're starting to lose the essence of being a Filipino. The rich imitate Victoria Beckham, and the middle and lower class just mimic whatever the upper class do thinking that it's the latest fad in this country.
Basically, the rain has inspired me to write all these. It makes my heart swell with ecstasy. Haha. I just love the exhilarating feeling it gives me.
B was here last Wednesday and it's just great. Rain + B = the perfect life. It's just really great cuz I get to be cozy and bum, while snuggling up with him the entire day. I love it!
