Chica Vanidad 2011
I didn't get a chance to attend last years Chica Vanidad, but to my understanding it was a Latino pageant type show without the questions, The contestants would model clothing from the sponsors and do a runway. I didn't think that this would become an annual event, but it was popular enough to bring back for a second show! My Friend Marisol S. was in this event and had asked me to be her makeup artist for the night, and i agreed. Last year my bff Anaih won, and she had told me how the night went and what she modeled and a while after she won they gave her a DVD with clips of the show and a mini interview she did after winning...So i thought i knew what i was in for...
A little after arriving with sol to Club Elevate in SLC we went on stage and waited for them to do a run through of the walk and for them to get instructions of how the show was going to be. After We ended up going to go get ready at The Grand America were all 14 girls were crammed into one room. They had one MUA and two Hair stylists, who were running late so i ended up doing makeup for four other girls aside from Sol, in my previous experience doing shows we got ready at the location, the MUA and Hair stylists were there before the models in order to be prepared and to set up. We ended up leaving at 11:30 and were instructed to leave our things behind they had a limo for the girls and they couldn't fit all the bags, I don't trust anyone i don't know naturally like anyone else so i grabbed all my things and told my friend if she was going to leave her stuff to give me her wallet, keys and any other important things. We left for the club and got the show going, the changes were quick but in my opinion very poorly instructed and organized, but like any other event, The show must go on. After the show i decided to carry my purse around and not leave it backstage. They announced the winner and we danced the night away.
After the night was done, we had to go back and get some stuff sol had left at the hotel, when we arrived one of the contestants was calling security to have the cameras reviewed because her things were stolen from the room, we also ran in to the winner of the show and she told us she had 100.00 deducted from her grand prize of 1000.00 because Another model got her dress stolen. A little unfair in my opinion, The unlucky lady who got her dress stolen should have been held responsible for it, Not the winner.
