LA Fitness?

So I worked at a gym back home called LA Fitness. My position title was called Training Assisstant Manager or TAM. As a TAM my job was to walk around and see how people were doing during there workouts and try to help them make the most of the gym. The gym is there to help people see the physical results they want. But often times they didnt know how to make those results real for them. They would see how others were doing it and kind of copy them. It's seems to work for a time, but eventually they stop seeing anything happen. They get discouraged and quit. On top of helping people make the most of their workouts, I would conduct fitness evalutions. Very simply, we measure where people are at now and set goals and make plans to reach those goals. I would explain how to ensure that these people would not be wasting their time at the gym. Because I was not a licensed Personal Trainer, I was not allowed to train them, but I could offer a taste of what Personal Training would be. Then my job was to sell it to them. Alot of people have a bad taste of sales people, which is understandable and I don't want to get into that. The point is when we're in the gym, we need training. Much like we always need training in this life. Training to drive a car, training for our new job, training for life itself. So this is just another way we need training. After every fitness evaluation I conducted, each person would talk about how much they knew they needed the training, but would find excuses why they weren't getting it. One of the biggest questions I would ask is "Do you feel how training would help?" and I would tell them to imagine getting that good of a workout every time they came to the gym. They all loved the idea of that, but turning it into reality was another story.
Here, we are all in lifes gym, and serving a mission has helped me see the similarities of LA Fitness and life. First I go out now as a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ and see how people are doing in their earthly workout. I notice that everyone is looking for happiness in one form or another. Some people see others spiritual success and do one of two things. They either get discouraged immediately and quit trying or they try harder for a bit trying to attain the same spirituality and stop noticing anything happen after some time and quit. I as a missionary conduct Spiritual evaluations, which consist of seeing where people are at now and helping them set goals and make plans to reach those goals. We try really hard to keep our goals in line with Gods because He knows best. His goal is to have all of us, His children, return to Him. So we set goals accordingly, whether it be, reading scriptures, saying prayers, or coming to church. Eventually as with physically working out, we plateau and stop noticing results. When this happens we need to up the workout. Some might ask how do we do that spiritually. If we're doing really well at reading our scriptures but not making it to church, we set a goal to make it to church that sunday and so forth.
After visiting with people in their homes and conducting this spiritual evaluation and teaching them how to become spiritually stronger, most if not all will agree that they could use some spiritual training but for whatever reason, don't recieve it.
It is my humble desire that we will not make excuses to not follow Jesus Christ. We all do it at times, myself included. To avoid this we must learn His teachings by studying the scriptures, His workout techniques. Then we must apply them. Applying them is the hard part. It takes dedication beyond anything we have ever given before. It takes time and sacrifice. It takes giving up previous habits and some ways of life. It, like starting a Personal Training regiment, takes a couple promises. One to ourselves, that we are going to stick with it. And one to our Personal Trainer, Jesus Christ, that we will trust His training and do it all. I hope that we will all employ the teachings of Jesus Christ and use Him as our spriritual trainer. Not only to learn of Him, but to be like him. I know we can do it.
